Rev. J.D. Moffett

Associate Minister/Director of Program Ministries & Pastoral Care

J.D. Moffett (Pastor J.D.) was born in Albemarle, NC to Dr. Colin and April Moffett. He is married to Chelsea Moffett of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Chelsea works for a health care staffing company called Aya Healthcare. Before that she was a social worker for nursing homes and hospice. She has her Master’s Degree in Social Work that she got from UNC Charlotte.

Pastor J.D. gave his first sermon on July, 7 2019 at the Polkton Charge in Anson County. He graduated from UNC Greensboro in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in history, and from Hood Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. He is a huge comic book and video game lover, and enjoys playing golf and watching baseball. Pastor J.D. has preached in Anson County the past five years serving a rural church, and is a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church. Pastor J.D. believes in a ministry that is rooted in the Gospel. A ministry that calls Christians to show love, compassion, and grace to all people. He believes that the church is a group of disciples that are in the community serving those who are in need (whether spiritually or physically). He believes that all Christians are called into ministry with the gifts that God has given them, and that our walk of faith is a continual journey to learn, and grow with each other and God. He believes that in order for the community to become involved in the church, the church must first become involved in the community. We as disciples are called to go out into the world, and this means going out into the community and being in loving fellowship with all those in the community.

Pastor J.D. also believes that a fruitful congregation is one that has laity that are passionate and equipped to be effective in their ministry. Laity are the backbones of the church and should be encouraged, supported, trained and educated in ministry so that the church and community can grow together spiritually.
